Seoul Dentists

It is very common for Korean dentists to be trained at a Canadian or US dental college, and many of these will provide a familiar, western-style dentist experience.  Seoul dentists often vary considerably in their English skills, the cleanliness of their practices, and the trustworthiness of their diagnoses.  However, there is no reason to settle for less than excellent dental care in Seoul.  If, after a checkup you are disappointed by the professionalism of your dentist, or in doubt about the accuracy of their diagnosis, it is absolutely possible to find a better place.  They are your teeth, after all!

Seoul English Dentist Costs

If you are employed in Korea, your national health insurance (NHIC) plan will help to subsidize your dentist visits.  Rates for a basic cleaning and check up vary, but you can expect to pay 30,000-50,000 won at a high-quality Seoul dentist.  Other procedures such as whitening, fillings, root canals, etc. are typically 10-20% cheaper than in the US, Canada, or UK.

Finding a Seoul dentist with a reputable practice and good English skills is easier than you might think.  Dental care in Seoul is usually a positive experience if you find the right dentist.

Hello, my name is . Please contact me at or by phone at to schedule an appointment at your dental clinic.
  • kid smilingCompile a list of dentists in Seoul from Google searches, recommendations, your local area, etc.
  • During usual working hours, make some calls to the dentists on your list.  Ask them if the dentist and hygienists speak English. If the receptionist does not speak English well, he or she will probably hand you off to someone who does. If this does not happen, you’ve probably got all you need to know about this particular place!
  • Some questions to ask:
    • Do you accept the national health insurance (NHIC)?
    • How much does a standard teeth cleaning and consultation cost?
    • Can you schedule an appointment at a time that is convenient for you?
    • What subway station are you closest to?
  • When you have settled on a Seoul dentist whom you can communicate well with, schedule an appointment. During your first appointment, make sure to ask a lot of questions, especially if they recommend you return for an additional procedure. Most Seoul dentist’s will be forthcoming with information if you ask, but many do not offer in voluntarily if they are uncomfortable with their English skills.  That is why it’s especially important to find a Seoul dentist who speaks fluent English.
